The name of our outreach in Brazil is Vinde Meninos, which means “Come Children” in Portuguese. This name was inspired by an old hymn welcoming children to come and give their lives to Christ. In the Gospel of Matthew 19:13- 15, we see the heart of Jesus as He welcomes children as they come to Him,
“Then children were brought to Him that He might lay His hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven.’”
The ministry has grown not only to two locations in the original city of Atibaia, but also to the inner city of Sao Paulo and the large remote city of Marilia. Vinde Meninos is now reaching more than 200 children per week in four locations. The focus is strong and clear–Investing in the lives of children and families through Biblical Discipleship, Meeting Physical Needs, and Advancing Education.
