By Heather Oliver, Director of Education, Village of Eden Uganda
The Village of Eden Primary School first opened its doors in 2014, believing that a quality Christian education can transform our local community in remote Uganda for the glory of God. Missionaries and faculty pray daily for students' hearts to turn toward the Savior. In those classrooms, we teach boys and girls the truth of God's Word, meet their basic needs, and advance their lives through education.
As a Christian School, our goal is to learn through a Biblical worldview. We do not separate Biblical principles from other subjects, helping our students to see God in everything, all day. Our heart for our students, teachers, and staff is to be transformed by God, ultimately seeing transformation in their homes, villages, Uganda, and the world. We want to see our students grow up and glorify God in whatever profession they choose in a way that shines God's light into the world and points people to Christ.
A CONCEPTUAL RENDERING OF THE VOE PRIMARY SCHOOL
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will."
Romans 12: 1-2
Research has proven that for a child to learn effectively, their basic needs must be met. If they are hungry, tired, sick, or scared, they will not be able to focus on their education. Due to our remote location in an agrarian society, many of our students come from homes deficient in several essential and practical needs. Each day at school, children receive healthy meals, providing proper nutrition and the motivation to learn.
Currently, we are operating at our maximum capacity with just over 100 students in primary school. Our master plan would ultimately allow us to hold 400 children at the elementary level and, one day, 300 high school students. Imagine 700 students in our community receiving a quality Christ-based education. What a difference we would see in the lives of so many families!
In 2021, we completed a phase of our building project for the school to allow adequate space for ministry. Beginning in 2023, we will move forward with the intent to finish the Primary School facility before moving on to provide facilities for high school students. It will take $2.5 million to complete the Primary School building. We look forward with anticipation to the impact the completed school will make.
To complete the Village of Eden Primary School, we need your help. Will you consider making a financial gift to help build the school? Your generosity will impact hundreds of students who will walk through those doors!
