A Letter From Our Founder

I love this photo! One day as we were giving out free mosquito nets, this young girl was overjoyed to receive a gift that could save her life. She was not thinking about the future, when her net will be dirty, torn, and no longer effective at preventing malaria. My joy is in knowing that as we gave mosquito nets, we shared about the true life-saver—Jesus Christ. Since our beginning in 2003, Helping Hands’ focus has been and will continue to be the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Like Jesus did, we help people with physical needs by giving nets, medical care, clothing, and food. I’m thrilled to see how we responded to the needs of our communities in 2018, such as:

• More than 1,500 Ugandan students supported with education, meals, and uniforms

• 561 mosquito nets distributed

• More than 100 babies helped through our Uganda Nutrition Support program

• 16,997 patient visits at the Village of Eden Medical Center

• More than 150 mission trip volunteers from around the world

• 350 in weekly attendance at the Village of Eden Church

• Thousands of children fed every Saturday through our Esangalo Children’s Ministry

We know that nets, clothing, and shoes wear out and have to be replaced. Medications are finished, and we have to buy more. Hunger pains return, and children need to eat again. But when we share the life-saving Good News of how Christ came to the earth and died for the sins of the world, we can be assured that gift will never get old, wear out, or have to be replaced. “Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the

everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.” (Isaiah 40:28 NLT)

The vision of our ministry is to “Make disciples of Jesus Christ as we demonstrate His love in practical ways among those with the greatest physical needs and spiritual needs.” Will you join with us in taking the Gospel to those who are in desperate need of His love?
