In early November 2025, more than 300 people gathered at the Village of Eden for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Village of Eden Christian Secondary School. In the audience were the guests of honor – current and future students who will occupy the high school upon completion, teachers from the primary school and secondary school, and the leadership team from the ministry. There was tremendous excitement leading up to this special day. Students were seated early with great anticipation of what the day would bring.

For many in attendance, this would be their first-ever groundbreaking ceremony. Beginning in our Church, Spirit-filled worship was led by a choir of teachers from the secondary school. The students were so excited to see their teachers singing out in praise to the Lord. As this Church was the first building constructed at the Village of Eden, starting the ceremony there was a reminder of all that God has done, and that everything we do is for His glory and for the sake of the Gospel.

Jessica Matthews, Director of the Village of Eden, reminded us of the importance of our mission and vision. The heart of Moyo Missions is to invest in those with the greatest physical and spiritual needs, producing disciples of Jesus who are representatives of the Gospel in their community and around the world. Ultimately, the Secondary School will be a significant realization of our strategy.

Heather Oliver, the Director of Christian Education, shared about the importance of a quality education grounded in God’s Word, which will impact the lives of students and their families. Following Heather, a moving speech was given by one of our high school students. This young man has been provided an education at the Village of Eden through our child sponsorship program. He shared about the struggles of life in this remote part of Africa and that without his sponsor, he would not be able to attend school.

Then, students and teachers, filled with excitement, moved from the church to a beautiful, grassy field. There, I had the privilege to share the verse that was the highlight of this special day – “Jesus spoke to them, ‘I am the light of the world.’” John 8:12

This was one of Dr. Richard Kowalske’s, Co-Founder of Moyo Missions, favorite Bible verses. Dr. K’s heart was that everyone impacted by the ministry would become a reflection of the life of Jesus. This is also one of the reasons that our logo features a uniquely designed sun – we want the children and families we reach to reflect the light of Jesus everywhere they go. Each student was given a special t-shirt with our logo and Bible verse to commemorate this special day and as a reminder that they represent Jesus Christ.

As 2025 came to a close, the Village of Eden was stepping into a new chapter in the life of our ministry. We are proud to move forward in our vision by constructing a facility for our students. But this is only a building; it is what takes place inside those classrooms that will make an eternal difference. Boys and girls will receive a quality education while they grow into adulthood and become arrows in the hand of our Lord and Savior, being launched as representatives of the Gospel into their community and around the world.

Will you join us by investing in this vision we steward for the Lord? We are grateful for your partnership in the Gospel and do not take any donation lightly. Please continue to pray for our leadership, our teachers, and our students!
