Grace's Story

You would never know by looking at Grace that her story began with hardship: severe malnourishment. She was brought to the Village of Eden Medical Clinic by her grandmother when she was just a few days old. The baby’s mother was mentally unstable and refused to feed her child, and her father was not known.

Grace and her grandmother were admitted to our Nutrition Program, a place for malnourished babies and their caretakers to receive help. This weekly program provides babies with nutritious meals, as well as the love and care they need to grow. Parents receive a hearty meal and are taught the importance of quality nutrition, how to prioritize their child’s health, basic hygiene, and other important information. Not only does the Nutrition Program give us the opportunity to help our community in a practical way, but it also opens doors to sharing the Gospel and demonstrating the compassionate love of Jesus.
Through our Nutrition Program, formula and support were provided for the grandmother to feed Grace. However, Grace continued losing weight, and with 11 other grandchildren in her care, the grandmother was unable to give the infant the attention she needed to improve. As a result, Grace came to live at the Village of Eden. There, she received constant care in the Baby Home. Not only were her basic needs met, but she was shown the love every child deserves. She quickly grew into a happy, smiley, and chunky baby girl.
Now, Grace is a beautiful, joyful kindergartner. She is smart, loves to learn, and is a leader among her friends. As she continues to grow at the Village of Eden, our hope is that Grace will know she is loved by God and that He has a great purpose for her life. While her story began with hardship, it provided the opportunity to show Grace and her grandmother the love of God in a tangible way.
