STORIES

The Ukraine - Uganda Connection

Our ministry has been working in Uganda since 2005. We are blessed to have people from around the world serve with us at the Village of Eden. Some volunteers come for a week, and some even stay for a year. We have had volunteers from South America, Europe, and Australia. Currently, our missionaries and staff represent seven different countries.

One of our staff missionaries is from the country of Ukraine, Olya. She is married to Camilo, who is from Columbia. They met while serving in Uganda. Olya is just one of many Ukrainians who have a heart for the people of Uganda. Over the years, we have hosted dozens of volunteers and have had several staff members from Ukraine. As a result, we have a special connection with the people of Ukraine.

Our hearts are broken by the violence of war happening in Ukraine. We want to be Christ-followers who join with other believers to help churches provide shelter and relief in Ukraine and neighboring countries. We have been prayerfully seeking opportunities to support efforts by churches inside the country, as well as those working with refugees.

Currently, there are two outreaches we are supporting. The first is Grace Church, located in one of the hardest-hit areas of eastern Ukraine. The church is being used as a bomb shelter and provides meals for the people in the area. We will send funds to help provide daily meals for the nearly 100 people living in the basement and elderly citizens who cannot leave their homes.

The second opportunity is a church located in northern Poland. Our friend, Pastor Maksym, is helping with the refugee crisis by providing for needs and offering support for people who have lost everything. He is leading his church to host an Easter Outreach for children and families. We will send funds to support Pastor Maksym and his church as they invest in the lives of these vulnerable children.

As the Lord leads, we will prayerfully seek more opportunities to invest in and support believers in Eastern Europe. We would like to encourage you to join us as we pray regularly for these people in crisis. We also invite you to support these efforts financially. You can give by sending a check to our office or through the giving link below. Thank you for your faithfulness in partnering with us to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
